Seven Swords Academy

The Seven Swords Academy is a school of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and Swordsmanship located in Steele Hall, in Lakewood, Washington. We primarily study and practice Late Medieval Longsword and its accompanying arts of Grappling, Dagger, Spear and Polearms. We work through both the scholarship and practical application of historical manuals left to us by Masters of the Art from the late 14th to 15th centuries, such as Fiore dei Liberi and Filippo Vadi, the Liechtenauer Tradition (Doebringer, Ringek, and von Danzig) as well as any manual that can further our understanding of the material. Though not our primary effort, we also study Sword and Buckler, Short Sword, Sabre, Rapier, and Single-stick as many of the fundamental principles apply.

The Seven Swords Academy holds classes in the evenings from 4:30-8:30pm, Monday through Friday, and on Saturday mornings from 9:30-Noon. Both Youth and Adult classes are available. We have 1800 sq/ft of training area indoors (floor mats for your safety), with addition space for changing rooms, a kid's area, an observation deck, a library, and lounge. A Longsword and mask is provided for all beginner's and new members.
